December 2009 through to February 2010 are VERY cold month but work at Hanley Swan Village Pond carries on!
Not to look a gift horse in the mouth Neil jumps at chance to get Will Hall and his team back to Hanley Swan Village Pond for a couple of days for a final push before the end of the year.
The ground was rock hard so Neil had no fear of tractors loaded with soil sinking in the mud as they did in November. Everyone put their backs behind this last push to finish the back fill so Neil would be ready to sow grass seed in the spring. It was a fun day and as Neil wished everyone a great Christmas he could only hope and pray that Will would be able to return with his gang to continue their support of this community project in the New Year. With cuts to County Council projects, this was certainly not a given so Neil just had to wait and see what would transpire in 2010.
It was amazing to see what had been achieved in just 12 short weeks and Neil was delighted that this community project at Hanley Swan Village Pond had not cost the village nor the Hanley Swan Parish Council a single penny. Everyone had volunteered their time, hard work, enthusiasm, determination, and it’s been a truly an amazing experience.
The workers in Hanley Swan volunteers can take a well earned break!
February 2010 and Will and his team are back!
Neil is so happy that Will Hall was able to return and with this extra man power Neil is sure we can finish this Community Project by the spring.
Giving back to the community has been a BRILLIANT experience for Neil and Gigi, and they are very proud that they managed to mobilize so many people to help improve Hanley Swan village pond. Both Neil and Gigi would without hesitation recommend to anyone to find a local community project and get stuck in.
Go and experience the value of giving and see if you can make a difference to your local community.
